Paris, Sports and Fitness section. Available at the American Church in Paris.
Ø Paris tourism office, 127 av des Champs-Elysées, for
sports events, and they stock the book, Guide du sport à Paris; also consult the tourism
office online.
Ø Pariscope, weekly activities guide, in the English
section at back of magazine (Time Out section).
Ø English language magazines: Irish Eyes, Free Voice,
Where, Time Out, FUSAC (for ads).
Ø Internet: Google in your keywords in French, go to the
site and look for the American or English flag to find Parisian sites with sections
in English (inline skating, hiking, biking).
Ø IGN (National Geographic Institute), 107 rue Boétie,
8th arr., great inspirational resource for maps, guides and books
for hiking, biking, climbing.

French
- Ø Guide du Sport à Paris, lists all fitness/sports activities by arrondissement, for all ages, plus
swimming pools, sports centers, leagues, federations.
Free from the Hotel de Ville, the mairie in your arrondissement or
the tourist office.
Ø Your local mairie can provide the Guide
du Sport and information about local activities and events; city information
also available (some English) at www.paris.fr.org
Ø There are federations and associations for just about
anything you care to name (scuba diving, karate, fencing, scrabble), and addresses
and phone numbers are can be found in the yellow pages, or listed in back
of Guide du Sport.
Ø “Mini-guides” by Parisgramme, including Faire
du vélo à Paris, Danser à Paris, Paris tonique
Ø French weekly magazines: Zurban, Pariscope, Officiel
des spectacles
Ø Specialty magazines found at the kiosks on such topics
as jogging, equestrianism, tennis
Ø Au Vieux Campeur, the sports quasi department store;
ask at their outlet at 48 rue des Ecoles, 5th arr., for their librairie

- Ø Note: for children's sports, go to www.0-15.com/sport.html,
a great resource that lists classes for children to age 15, including
gymnastics, handball, basketball, fencing, etc, per arrondissement. It
also lists under vacances/colonies, vacation clubs for children.
